About

Alexandra Brockdorf, Ph.D., is a T32 postdoctoral research fellow at the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Brockdorf received her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in quantitative methods from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2024. She completed her predoctoral internship on the Traumatic Stress Track of the Charleston Consortium Psychology Internship Program. Her research examines the mental and physical health consequences of interpersonal trauma exposure. She is especially interested in intersections between posttraumatic stress disorder and modifiable health behaviors (e.g., alcohol use, sleep) after sexual assault. As part of this research, she also studies risk and prevention factors for sexual assault perpetration. Her work leverages multi-method approaches (e.g., ecological momentary assessment, actigraphy, alcohol administration, experimental paradigms) to identify proximal targets for clinical interventions to support trauma recovery and violence prevention. Dr. Brockdorf's research has been funded through NIAAA, NIMH, and APA.
